Setting up your Pinterest account and begin Pinning.
You will need no less than 250 educational resources by the end of the semester. That divides out to about 30+ a week in the online class and about 15 a day in the campus class. My advice....... do a few everyday, look at my Pinterest, follow me and other teachers including those suggested in the document below. Also, pay attention when you are re-pinning, they will be worth following. The more you follow, the more resources you will find. Look for Pinterest buttons on websites, for example, the teacher blogs you are exploring, they are excellent choices to follow.

And of course, add the resources you are learning about in this class, links to tutorials and tools and examples, etc. Make sure you have added the Pin It button to all your browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome). Then you can pin (save) resources as your find them. Don;t just depend on re-pinning.

If you already have a Pinterest account, you may continue to use that account. You will notice on my Pinterest account has a few boards that are personal, although, the majority of mine are educational boards. The more specific your boards, the easier it will be to find the resources you need later when creating lesson plans and teaching.

Blogging in the Classroom: Weekly reflections (15 total, 2 each week online or 1 a day for the Campus class)

NOTE: Week or Weekly refers to the ONLINE Class,
Day or Daily refers to the CAMPUS class.

We will be looking for new digital resources (and pinning them) throughout this class. In fact, you should always be on look out for new ways to improve our teaching and learning strategies. One of these strategies is to read what other teachers write. Of course, to do this you will need a list of education websites created by teachers to follow and get you started on your way to learning. Many of the blogs mentioned below were the finalists for Edublogger Awards 'Best Teacher Blog for the year. And some are past winners or just my personal favorites. The list is in no particular order. But there are plenty to select from.

Each week, select two blogs/websites from the list to explore and write your reflection. You will write two reflections each week (15 total weekly for online or daily reflections for campus). Each week or day, select from the list below and write your reflection about what you learned, discovered, your wow moment, what surprised you, etc. The reflection each week or day is added to your website/blog with the specific title.

Make sure all your writing is hyperlinked. Hyperlinked means that it has live clickable links to what you are discussing, (like you are finding on this page). Always include live links for everything you are discussing on your website, ALWAYS, not just for these posts, but for every post on your website.

Additionally, make sure all reflections and text on your website include hyperlinks and at least one image (but the more, the better) that goes with the story. Take a look at my blog as well as pay attention to the blogs you are reading, You will discover they include images and links too. Kinda boring without them.......
Campus Class: we will learn how to add links, add the reflection, add images, etc. in class on day 2.

NOTE:

  • How to make a Hyperlink in WordPress is under the Help Logo below

  • How to make a screen capture in below under the Help Logo below

Select different blogs/website from the list below EACH time. If you find a blog you really like, you may use it more than once. It is your choice. But you will need to have 15 reflective writings by the end of the semester from not less than 8 different blogs/websites.

Fifteen reflections total and up to 5 additional reflections may count as extra credit. So you could have as many as 20 if you choose to do the extra credit.

TITLE your reflection as follows:

  • Reflection Week/Day 1: title of the blog and the exact title of the Post you are reviewing Reflection Week/Day 1: title of the blog and the exact title of the Post you are reviewing

  • Reflection Week/Day 2: Title of the blog and the exact title of the Post you are reviewing Reflection Week/Day 2: Title of the blog and the exact title of the Post you are reviewing

  • Reflection Week/Day 3, Title of the Blog. etc and so on each week.

MAKE SURE IT IS TITLED PROPERLY...................PLEASE

Please MAKE SURE IT IS TITLED PROPERLY

The more specific the title, the better.

Don't forget to add categories and tags.Categories and tags are explained in a video below under the Help Logo ( In the Campus class we will discuss these in class Day 2). I have had added some categories and tags for you to use, but feel free to add more as appropriate. The more specific you are, the better. Categories and tags are how you index your website and make it searchable.
